Colour the Flags of Asia and the Americas: Printable Sheets

Printable flag activities for Asia and the Americas: a colour-by-code sheet, a "name the flag" matching sheet and an answer key for 11 flags.

The flags are the simple designs used in the GeoKnow flag games: flat colours, stripes, crosses, discs, triangles and stars. Flags with coats of arms or detailed emblems are not included, and shades are approximations of the official colours, so treat these as a learning activity rather than an official flag reference. The flags covered are Peru, Indonesia, Yemen, Colombia, Bolivia, Armenia, Thailand, Japan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, India.

How to use the flag sheets

  • Colour by code. Every part of each flag carries a letter (R for red, B for blue and so on). Pupils colour each part, which builds a feel for how flags are put together.
  • Name the flag. The matching sheet shows finished flags with a word bank. It works as a quiz or a game-night worksheet.
  • Check. The answer key shows every flag in full colour with its name.
  • Play it. Move on to the free Guess the Flag game, which uses the same flag set, or the flag quiz.

How to print

Press the print button, then choose A4 or Letter in the print dialog and keep the scale at 100% (not "fit to page" with extra margins). Each sheet is designed to fill one page with a small margin on either size, and your browser's headers and footers can be switched off in the same dialog. Prefer a file? Download the PDF at the top.

Questions

Which flags are included?

11 flags from Asia and the Americas that can be drawn with simple shapes: Peru, Indonesia, Yemen, Colombia, Bolivia, Armenia, Thailand, Japan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, India.

Why are some well-known flags missing?

Flags with coats of arms, complex emblems or fine detail (such as the flags of the United States, Brazil or the United Kingdom) are not drawn by the GeoKnow flag set, so they are not on these sheets.

Does it print on A4 and US Letter?

Yes. Each sheet fits within the margins of both sizes. The colour sheets print in black and white; only the answer key needs colour.

Maps are drawn from Natural Earth (public domain) outline data and simplified for printing. Borders shown are simplified and some are disputed or changing; GeoKnow maps are learning aids, not authoritative boundary references, and showing a territory does not imply any position on its status.
