Name that shape
A glowing blueprint outline of a country. Which one is it?
How to play
Each round shows only the outline of a country. Work out which it is from its shape alone. When you answer, the world map shows where it is.
Difficulty
Easy uses well known countries, plus a few famous microstates like Monaco, Malta and Singapore, and gives four choices. Medium draws from every country and you type the answer, with three tries (10, 6 or 3 points). Hard turns the outline to a random angle and gives you two tries (10 or 5 points).
About the shapes
Outlines come from the Natural Earth maps (public domain). Larger countries use the 1:110m map and the microstates use the more detailed 1:50m map, including Monaco, Vatican City, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Malta, Singapore, the Maldives and island nations such as Tuvalu and Nauru. Outlines are simplified, and very tiny islands are left out so the main shape is clear.
Difficulty and modes
Easy, Medium and Hard each have their own puzzle every day, so there are three to play. A tick on the tab means you have finished it. Unlimited is endless survival play at the difficulty you choose: keep going until you slip, and try to beat your personal best, which is saved in your browser.
